'Blood moon' cloud forecast reveals best spots to see the total lunar eclipse
Skywatchers eagerly anticipating Thursday night's total lunar eclipse may face a challenge—cloud cover. A strong March storm could obscure the celestial event in several regions, meteorologists warn. However, some areas will have prime viewing conditions.
“The good news is that the total lunar eclipse will last over an hour—much longer than last April’s solar eclipse, which lasted under five minutes in the path of totality,” said AccuWeather meteorologist Brian Lada. “Even brief breaks in the clouds can provide a glimpse of the eclipse.”
